Summary: HSG80 DRM ACS 8.6P Limits, 12 RCS ?

Hi

Thanks to all that responded, and replied with further discussions on the
same issue.

There are limits of 12 RCS, and a RCS can only be applied to a non
PARTITIONED stripe/mirror/JBOD sets.

My DRM design will have to be redone. In a Oracle DRM, there are issues to
replicate only redo log files, or complete database. Compaq white papers
RF-1208-03, 15FA-0801A-WWEN.

Perhaps wait for next release. Investigating. A future DRM summary will be
posted.

Yes it does. Only 12 units can be replicated
I'm pretty sure that it's unsupported to replicate partitioned units

The most current DRM Quick Spec clearly says:
+ Up to twelve remote copy sets per array
+ Up to twelve non-remote copy sets per array
+ Up to twelve remote or non-remote copy sets per association sets

I'm not looking at the manual, but I thought a RCS could have multiple LUNs
associated with it.
Thus you can have all the luns replicated, but the failure granularity is
only 12 sets of LUNs.

Correct. It is a severe restriction.
ACS ?next? for DRM is due out in about December which removes (or greatly
increases, I forget which) the restriction. However, some of the issue is
controller hased, so the HSG80 may still have problems.
Lots of other useful things -- bi-directional without having to buy extra
controllers, etc.

Our system has 18 LUNS, and perhaps more in future.  Does  this mean I can
only replicate 12 of those ?
The array supports 128 LUNS, but only 12 RCS's ???
