SUMMARY:: 500au workstation::ide disks.

 This was the fastest help i had ever got from any mailing list.
The conclusion is:
- ide is not worth the trouble, is not reliable,
"it is not something \"fixed in a later release\", it's just flaky" [1].
- ide may be "ok" for pc, while scsi is perfect for alphas [1].
- at some machines, one is able to use ide disks, but not boot
from it [3].
- support of ide at my 500au is still a mistery.
- on mistery is solved however, it seems that ide cdroms are
emulated as scsi devices, like CONFIG_BLK_DEV_IDESCSI
in linux systems [2].
