While I didn't recieve anything quite so blut as RTFM, all I needed to
do was read the dupatch manpage. Now everything is fully automated and
no longer crashing. Thanks to Oisin McGuinness and Tim Cutts for the
more informative of the several immediat replys. Tim informed me that
dupatch, like passwd, talks directly to the terminal and no to stdio,
which is why my rather feature-less script doesn't work. He sent me a
long endorsement of expect and a snippet of a script that allows for
things like switching between interactivity and automation which.
Everyone who sent me thier own dupatch command line sent me something
along the lines of this:
dupatch -install -kit /patch_dir/20020730/ -name "Sys Admin" -noauto -no
-note "auto patch" -patch all -product all

thanks everyone
-Lucas
