setpgrp and Cross Compilation

Tru64 5.1a

I am working on the configuration of the Courier-MTA software and am
consistently running into an error when the configure script tests for the
cross compilation of setpgrp:

------------------------
checking for setpgrp... yes
checking for setpgrp... (cached) yes
checking whether setpgrp takes no argument... configure: error: cannot
check setpgrp if cross compiling
------------------------

I have tried running the configuration with Compaq's C++ 6.2.0, the GnuPro
toolkit 2.9.7 from Compaq's web site, and the GCC 3.0.2 Tru64 5.1 binary
package from thewrittenword.com.

I've used unistd.h in /usr/include and the unistd.h provided with gcc.

Googling has come up with different fixes, patches, etc depending upon the
application -- nothing for Courier.

If anyone has any suggested workarounds -- particulary one associated with
this application -- I would appreciate it.
