Installing more than one individual patch on a cluster?

This morning we went through our first patch installs on a running
cluster - phew!! We were installing 2 patches that were wanted because
the cluster runs oracle 9iRAC. My question is, during the cluster patch
install process, when you get to the actual "dupatch" procedure,
is it correct/appropriate to run dupatch, install first patch, then run
dupatch again and install 2nd (...) patch, and *THEN* do the reboot and
move on the the "clu_upgrade postinstall" prodedure? We actually did one
patch, ran thru the whole process, then did another and repeated the whole
process - it took *HOURS*!!!!

TIA...
