regarding "Average Load" when using top

Dear Managers,

When running TOP to view performance , a set of 3 "average load"
values are shown on top. What do these values indicate? On a DS20E,
we are consistently seeing average load values between 5 and 6.
Does this indicate a problem? We haven't assigned priorities to the
different processes running on the system.
