tape numbering

Hi all,
I just installed an IBM DDS3 drive into an AlphaStation 600 running
v5.1a pk2. The tape drive comes up as /dev/tape/tape1, even though it is
the only tape drive in the system. Is there a way to force the divice to
tape0, as that is what my scripts look for, as does mt when not given a
-f?
