Network problems.

I am having network problems with two DEC AlphaStation 500's, running
Tru64 4.0F, with DEC 21040 ethernet cards. This manifests it self as slow
transfer rates (using ftp or scp) out of the machines. The transfer rate
onto the machines is fine.

The DEC-Alpha's and 3 linux machines are connected to a switch, which is
itself connected to the university network. Transfer rates in and out of
the linux machines are as fast as expected (100/10 Mbit, depending on the
card), so I assume the network and switch are OK.

I have tried setting the DEC-Alpha's at the console level to run at full
or half duplex, but this has no effect. Booting the machines into single
user mode so yp or nfs isn't a factor also seems not to help. And there is
nothing in the logs.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Many thanks,
Robert King.
