SUMMARY: Incompatibility between 5.1A patchkits?

Thanks to Tom Blinn and Ann Majeske, both of HP,
who helped clear things up. Original query:

Ann (patiently) pointed out that there's a version of the Early Release
patchkit that applies cleanly against Patch Kit #3. This one is
documented at

Mea culpa: I wasn't diligent enough in looking through the patch site
before I went a-patching. Probably it would have been better to do
Patch Kit #3 first, then the above Early Release patchkit.
