UNIX and DVDs, is this possible?

Greetings,

We have been asked whether or not legacy UNIX (4.0F in this case) can accomodate DVD drives.

I'm not certain at this point if it is just a DVD reader or reader/writer request.

Can you eleborate on DVD with 4.x and 5.x OS version?
