Answer:

        "There is no support in any version of Tru64 UNIX for ANY plug-in
         ATA (aka IDE) controllers. If you get lucky, you might manage to
         find a card that will be totally ignored both by console firmware
         (which has no support, as far as I know, on that system model, for
         booting from an ATAPI or IDE drive connected to a plug-in card,
         and if it already has an ATA controller chip on the motherboard
         for a CDROM drive, it may not work right if you add a different
         ATA controller chip), and by Tru64 UNIX. Basically, you are on
         uncharted waters -- not expected to work, but you might get lucky
         if you try enough different combinations. "
