Hello,
ADVFS-UTILITIES is required for addvol and rmvol under Tru64 UNIX 5.1A. There
does not appear to be any tool to proactively determine which licenses are
required. The only method, other than possible documentation, is to execute
a command and note if it complains about a license or the lack thereof.

QUESTION:
-----------------------------
Email sent to tru64-unix-managers_at_ornl.gov:
Is the ADVFS-UTILITIES license pertinent for Tru64 UNIX 5.1A? I needed
the ADVFS-UTILITIES license in the past (e.g., OSF/1 3.2A) to use AdvFS
utility defragment, for example. However, this does not appear to be
the case with Tru64 UNIX 5.1A. However, Compaq Tru64 UNIX AdvFS
Administration Version 5.1A or higher, June 2001, manual section 1.2
License Registration claims a license is necessary for the AdvFS
Utilities.
In general, how does one proactively determine if a license is
necessary? Is there a system tool?
