Cpio and multiple tapes.

Hi all, I seem to be having a problem using CPIO to
backup to multiple tapes. After the first tape is
full, cpio prompts for another tape, and when I do
replace the tape, there is little activity, it just
prompts for yet another tape. I use Dat tapes. Any
help will be appreciated,
