SUMMARY: password problem

Thanks to all who responded with the password problem. Problem was
users got the Intruder Alert message when they did a whoami and ls -al
showed only the user id and not the username as the owner. Pine would
not work as it didnt know who the user was as well.

solution: Reboot the server.
