Dear TruGurus,
today I have a very specific topic concerning an existing
TruCluster wich:
# OS version is 5.1A 2nd patch applied
# works perfectly (not even to say!)
# is made of 2 members: an ES40 and an AS4100.
# uses MC2 (CCMAB-AA) on both sides
in a virtual Hub configuration
(a single cable connects the two controllers)
# uses an HSZ80 on a shared bus
I want to replace the AS4100 with a new ES45.
I was planning to to as follows:
1) clu_delete_member AS4100
2) switch the cluster off
3) unplug the CCMAB-AA MC2 controller from AS4100
4) unplug the SCSI controller from AS4100
5) move the AS4100 from the rack
6) place the new AS45 into the rack
7) plug the CCMAB-AA MC2 controller into the ES45
8) plug the SCSI controller into the ES45
9) switch on both AS40 and AS45
10) boot ES40
11) clu_add_member AS45 from AS40
When I discovered at page 17 of the ES45 Quickspecs
(version 27 november 12,2002) that
"The MEMORY CHANNEL controller, CCMAB-AA, must be revision D01 or later"
And obviously, not to violate the Murphy's Law,
my CCMAB-AA controllers both have revision C04
So the questions for you are:
1) Do you think my rev. C04 CCMAB-AA will really not work when
plugged into the ES45?
2) If I need to plug a rev. D01 CCMAB-AA into the ES45, will it work when
directely connected to a rev. C04 CCMAB-AA on the ES40?
3) Is there any way to update the CCMAB-AA from revision C04 to the new D01
in order to avoid to buy a new controller?
