Hello,

ANSWER:
Build GNU gdb with the Tru64 UNIX /usr/bin/cc compiler. I used
/usr/bin/cc instead of gcc 3.2.1 and gdb 5.3 seems to work fine.

QUESTION:
There have been previous discussions about GNU gdb and Tru64 UNIX
support or lack thereof. Has anyone been successful in getting gdb to work
properly in the Tru64 UNIX 5.1A environment? How about any Tru64 UNIX
5.x environment?

I have unsuccessfully tried to use gdb 4.18 and 5.3 with 3.1.1 and
3.2.1 gcc/g++ built programs. I have also built gdb 5.3 with
GNU gcc 3.1.1 and 3.2.1 with the CFLAGS='-O2 -D__digital__' make option
suggested in the GDB gdb/PROBLEMS document. gdb 5.3 is able to
list the code but run seems to enter an infinite loop.
