"Out of memory errors" when running Matlab Release 13 under Tru64 5.1a

I have installed Matlab Release 13 on an ES40 running Tru64 5.1a. The
system has 4.5 GB of memory with 8.4 GB of swap space in "eager" mode.
When my Matlab users attempt to run their scripts, an "out of memory"
error occurs in Matlab. After reading a technical bulletin on the
Mathworks support site, I am given to understand that this occurs when
large martrixes are loaded in to virtual memory they must be loaded into
contiguous space in the virtual memory. If virtual memory does not have
enough contiguous space to load the matrix, an "out of memory" error
occurs in Matlab.

Is there anyone out there that runs Matlab under Tru64 UNIX? Have you
had similar problems? Are there any solutions?
