Thanks to Jenny Butler, Murthy Hebbar, Robert Collins, Jesper Frank Nemholt,
and Pat O'Brien for their responses. What ended up being the fix was to 1.
create version 4 domains and 2. replace the backplane. This system was
using an DWPLA backplane and we had it replaced with DWPLB backplane.
Thanks again,
Chris

Subject: Slow IO after 5.1 upgrade
Admins,
We have a alpha 8400 that was upgraded from 4.0F -> 4.0G -> 5.1.
Running AdvFS file system version 4 with backwards compatability to version
3. All domains on this system are running version 3. The only application
running is Oracle 8.1.7.4. We are experiencing I/O performance problems,
more specificly slowdowns on these domains. Direct I/O is turned on. Has
anyone else seen problems similar? What is the cause? What is the
solution? I will summarize.
TIA,
Chris Bryant
