SUMMARY: creating bootable Tape

Thanks to all who responded: Regis Carlier, Simon Millard and Dominic
Christopher.

Dominic Christopher suggested to use the flag "nc" like that:

>>> boot -fl "nc" mka500

and it worked fine.

So it is definitely possible to boot from tape on an alpha 1000/250 with
firmware 3.1-2 (!), if the tape is created on a Tru64 4.0g using btcreate.
Another question however remains - the btextract process stops since
there are no usable partitions (esp. swap) defined (i just set up the
raw raid device). Obviously, I would have to create domains and fsets
before booting from the tape and btextracting; but I dont think that
this is possible from srm :o) .
So I guess I will boot from the installation cd, create the domains and
partitions and then again do a btextract.

Thank you all again
