When performing a disaster restore of a cluster onto different hardware is
it likely to be quicker to install the operating system and all other
products fresh, or to restore the operating system from backup tape and
reconfigure for the different hardware?
Assume there are about 10 additional products to be installed and configured
on top of a fresh install of the operating system to bring it up to the same
level as the original.
In other words, would you restore a cluster o/s from tape and make it fit
new h/w, or just reinstall?
The answer will help us to determine if we need to test the process of
restoring a cluster operating system from backup and making it operational
on different hardware.
TIA
Mark.
