compiling sendmail 8.12.8 on DU4.0f

hello,

while trying to compile sendmail 8.12.8 on Tru64 Du4.0f ,
I get the following error from Build:

...
a - ldap.o
a - niprop.o
a - mpeix.o
ranlib libsm.a
cc -std1 -Olimit
1000 -O -I. -I../../include -DNEWDB -DNDBM -DNIS -DMAP_REGEX -c
t-event.c
cc -std1 -Olimit 1000 -o t-event t-event.o libsm.a -ldb -ldbm
ld:
Can't locate file for: -ldbm
*** Exit 1


the only file I find is dbm.h in /usr/include

any suggestion of fixing this? thanks for any help,
