Hi all.
forget most what I said in my summary. In the test case with V4.0G
everything
looked good. But it is terrible with V5.1B. Recovering of the non-system
disks
worked fine.
The I copied a lot aof my old files to the new system. Reboot: System
came
up with a lot of errors. Turned out, nearly the who /var directory was
Missing. Maybe I replaced a lot of links - obviously the whole
directories
consist of CDLS because of the Cluster business...
Installed the system a 2nd time, transfered only a few files (giving
before
a ls -l on the target, just to avoid to overwrite a symbolic link). But
I
managed it anyway after Reboot the /var directory was corrupt.
Now just my 3rd new install is running....
But now the question:
There must be a simple way to transfer a file on a single node (I am not
using Clusters and don't want it) to a particular target directory? (In
VMS one has
the quite understandable concept with sys$sysroot and sys$common)
There must be a way to copy a node-specific file somewhere without
destroying the hell of CDSLs.
Before: cp /backup/etc/rc.config /etc
Now?: cp /backup/etc/rc.config <local-etc-of-this-system> ????
Regards
Otto
