SUMMARY: insufficient disk while upgrading from 5.1 to 5.1A

My original question has to do with upgrade 5.1->5.1A
failing because of lack of space on disk even though I
had plenty.

Maria.Gilliland_at_commerzbank.com had the answer:

"I had the same problem when upgrading to v5.1a. You
will find that root or usr has no free inodes. "df -i"
will show all inodes used. Reboot and the indoes will
be freed up.

Running quotacheck causes the problem but HP insists
that quotacheck should be run. There is a patch for
this but it's not publicly available yet. You have to
log a call with hp and they escalate a "P1" call to
the States, requesting the patch.

Simply reboot. That will fix the problem."

thanks maria, I did that and was able to finish the
upgrade.
