Hi all
We have five new DS20Es running Tru64 5.1A (pk3). This is common across
all five of them:
When we run 'passwd', either from the command line or automatically
invoked from 'adduser', we get the following menu (new to me):
You are registered with the following security mechanisms
1 Kerberos
2 BSD
3 Synchronized update for the above-listed mechanisms
Whichever option we take, or even if we hit control-C, it replies with
"Memory fault". If we pick "Kerberos" or "BSD" it will at least allow
us to set the password before bombing; if we pick "Synchronized update"
it will bomb right away. Doesn't matter whether you're root or not. We
can set the password fine in dxaccounts.
I'm new to 5.1A (and Kerberos, incidentally) so maybe this is a
no-brainer. The other issue (maybe connected) is that these absolutely
dormant systems seem to take about ten seconds to verify the password
when you're logging in. Any ideas?
Thanks - I will summarize.
