I got one response and it fixed the problem - thanks to Jason Orendorf of
HP:
You might try deleting the device completely and rescanning:
# hwmgr -delete comp -id 179
# hwmgr show scsi
(make sure it's gone)
# hwmgr -scan scsi
(make sure it's back)
# dsfmgr -m tape? tape0 (if needed)
# drdmgr tape0
(see what's reported)
Hope this helps.

original question:
I've got a tapedrive that due to the known issues with the MDR-80
disappeared
from my cluster for a bit. I've had the library and mdr cycled and now hwmgr
can see the device, but drdmgr refueses to let me assign it to a node
claiming
that neither node has a valid path. I can see it with scu.
from hwmgr -show scsi
179: 20 oraprodcm tape none 0 1 tape0 [2/0/1]
but i get this from drdmgr
oraprodcm# drdmgr -a server=oraprodcm tape0
drdmgr: Error, Server relocation failed for device 'tape0'drdmgr: Error,
Requested server doesn't have local path to the device
I get the same with server= the other cluster member, and it doesn't matter
which
node i run the drdmgr command on.
The OS is 5.1A PK 4
