SUMMARY Telnet as root

THANK YOU for all of your help!! There are
many replies and the list of names would be
too long to list here.

The solution to the issue of telneting in as
root is:

vi /etc/securettys

remove the ptys line (or just comment it out).

This will disable all root logins via telnet.

/etc/securettys should look like this:

       # Terminal lines for root logins
       #
       /dev/console
       :0
       /dev/tty00

Also man securettys
