DECmigrate / libmxr.so & 5.1B

I noticed that Tru64 5.1B officially drops libmxr.so and mxr,
which was used to translate and run Ultrix executables on Tru64. Has
anyone tried to run a translated executable on 5.1B by copying the shared
library from an older version of the OS? I tried copying it from a 5.1
system, and it does eliminate the /sbin/loader error, but all programs
just exit with a return code of 255 without doing anything. Obviously
this is unsupported now, but I would have thought copying the shared
library would have done it.

I don't have the source to these programs, so recompiling isn't an
option. I didn't have ready access to a 5.1A system, but I noticed that
the library from 4.0F and 5.1 is identical when you run sum against both
of them (50175 959 /usr/shlib/libmxr.so), so I'd be suprised if it changed
in 5.1A.

        Any ideas?

Thanks,

Tom
