Hi Managers,
1) Tru64 5.1, ADVFS 2) TRU64 4.0D, UFS
I am trying to rdump from server 2 to server1 and am getting
permission denied errors:
$>rdump -0f server1:/dev/ntape/tape0 /dev/rz11c
rcmd: socket: Permission denied
rcmd: socket: Permission denied
rdump: Cannot establish connection to remote rmt command
rmthost(): rcmd(): Permission denied
Terminated
For some reason there is no vdump on the 4.0D system so I tried
$>dump -0f server1:/dev/ntape/tape0 /dev/rz11c
This seems to be a permissions problem accessing the raw file, (root
can do it but root logins are barred on server 1). What I get is:
dump: Dumping from host helios.sciencephoto.co.uk
dump: Date of this level 0 dump: Wed Jul 30 14:17:23 2003 BST
dump: Date of last level dump: the start of the epoch
dump: Dumping /dev/rrz11c (/usr2) to server1:/dev/ntape/tape0
dump:
dump: Cannot open file-system file /dev/rrz11c
dump: Bad file system specification or bad file system. The raw
device must be entered when the file system's pathname has not
been entered in the fstab file. A bad file system is reported when the
the magic number
dump: is not found in the super block.
main(): open(): Permission denied
dump: The ENTIRE dump is aborted
I have tried as different users that have not problem using rlogin but
rdump will not work. The hosts.equiv and .rhosts files all seem
correct. I have had no problems in the past using rdump from server
1 to server 2 but the tape drive on that machine has just gone south.
Does the socket error mean I have a missing services entry? Has
anyone seem this before. The archives mention adding an .rhosts file
but that is in place (though the accounts on both servers are the
same and so the hosts.equiv should be enough). Thanx in advance.
Dp.
