Hello!
i am running tru64 5.0
i have installed a new java, with setld utility.
i have no idea, if those facts are connected but strange
things started to happen.
partition with homes is mounted on the /u ,
it is advfs domain, namely users_domain#u1. and
this partition was no longer available, i.e. no
one has his home dir any more. what is even more strange
`ls -al` reported NO SUCH directory as /u, but `echo *`
and `ls` saw /u directory or file. (it is direcotry
where homes are)
what is even worse, after i rebooted the machine,
i received trap "invalid memory read access from kernel"
or something like this, i cant type it correctly, because it
remains on the screen not more than 2s befre the machine goes
reboot again.
on this machine nothig was installed using setld
for a long time (1.5year or so) can it be the hard disk
malfunction?
in the single user mode i can mount all the disks, all
the domains, but not /u when i got the same trap.
what is even more dreadful when i commented the
line with /u in the /etc/fstab i recived the same trap
10ms after the system was up (i saw login prompt, for
i have switched the xlogin off).
how can i check the trap message?
how can i check the harddrive?
thanx in advance for your help, this time i need it really
badly.
yours,
pg
