file and group numbers/names

Hello

We have a Tru64 server here with a few dozen users logging on, mostly from
PCs, using either Hummingbird or just a telnet session from a DOS
prompt. When they log in and list their files they get something like:

-rw-r--r-- 1 660 7000 9598 Oct 17 12:44 phredpar.dat
-rw-r--r-- 1 660 7000 77422 Oct 14 16:46 sars.html
drwxr-xr-x 4 root 7000 512 Oct 19 03:52 sars_pages/

Group 7000 is users and 660 is this user. However, some users would prefer
to see their actual user names rather than just a number, and likewise to
see the names of groups rather than just the group numbers.

I'm wondering if I ought to change this, as it appears to be a security
feature of sorts, and if so, how would I change it?

Thanks for any help you can provide

Cheers
Derek
