sanity check: can this patch be applied in multiuser?

I applied a patch kit (5.1a #5) to a production system last week and
forgot to apply a second small customer specific patch that undoes a
change in the ps command (changes "[...]" cmd format). This change to
PS affect scripts and third party products so I need to get this patch
on ASAP. Getting a maintenance window on this machine is tough.
Installing just this patch will take 20 minutes. Finding 20 minutes is
tough (requires 3 wks notice etc). Finding a few minutes is more
doable. The patch installs just one file:

# cat OSFPATC0133300520.inv
0 1534880 58478 3 4 100644 8/22/03 520 f
./sys/BINARY/std_kern.mod none OSFPATC0133300520
#

It seems this file is just used to rebuild the kernel, yes? I should be
able to install it and rebuild the kernel anytime and then just schedule
a short window to move the new kernel into place and reboot (5 minutes
beats 20 min)? Yes?
