The message is only informational and can in everyone´s knowledge be considered harmless in this case.
It may however also point to a bad chip on the interface card in other cases.
Dr Blinn assuaged me that the driver from where this message comes is very careful not to let this problem affect other interfaces which it is handling. He also advised also to keep the latest patch-level which may have fixed previous driver bugs, and that perhaps installing a loopback cable on it
would make the message go away.

Hello managers,
I am seeing the following message in /var/adm/messages for an Ethernet interface (DE504-BA, Tulip chipset) on a DS-10 running Tru64 4.0F:
tu3: can't issue setup frame: ring full
The interface is configured, but not connected to anything. I presume the message is coming from the Tulip driver, but does anyone know what this message means?
I could not find anything in the Tru64 docs...
