Mary, Tom, Mohamed, Charles, Tige, Michael, and all,

Once again thanks for the fast support, very commendable. It seems that
a pattern is developing, whenever I start working in depth on a problem,
something happens and via the segway, I go down uncharted (for me)
troubleshooting of the Tru64 creature. Of what type I am not sure, could
be bear, or at the least some kind of beast, I will give it a name in a
year.

When at the SRM prompt I did a boot, and that is when the fun really
started. Our company inherited these Alpha boxes on a contract change of

ownership, and at some undetermined point, a drive failure occurred when
the previous owners had the box. And then today another drive failure
happened. Hence the RAID = DEAD message in the bios utility for the
Adaptec. Seems that a utility called "StorageWorks Command Console"
and its agent for Intel, is needed to give assurance that the Raid set is
really working. So in a nutshell, the recently acquired machine is going

to be rebuilt with all loss of file structure, Oracle, user data, Java,
........ Too bad the other company didn't have any tape devices
working.

Have a good day.
