Evening Managers,
Some really good news, after facing a rebuild after days of HP hardware
and OS phone support, I decided to rebuild the system as per my morning
email. When I went to create a h_domain we use, I received a warning
message that basically said I would lose data if I created the h_domain. A
further clue was that when I did a customize option on the disk I noticed
the same file structure as before ( the panic dump of root , yesterday)
and after a few hundred keystrokes, voila ! Oracle is back and so is the
several hundred thousand files that go with it.
So the RAID5 rebuid after a controller burp didn't succeed in stopping the
panic dump when vmunix, then root tried to load, but after an install, the
recovery of the h_domain was possible with the /advfs scan toolsets and
  the -r -f -q flags, then renaming the generic domain_dsk0h to h_domain
in /etc/fdmns and remounting h_domain. I think I got that right.
What a learning experience. Stressful but fun. So what's next?
All have a good day.
