Hi managers,
Up to now, I didn't receive any responses. I'll append my findings for sharing.
The problem seems to be caused by the low speed WAN link with hardware compression enabled. Under this situation, the network connection may be disconnected due to high error rate during transferring data with high compression ratio like GZIP file.
There is a possible bug on Cisco IOS where a data pattern is created that somehow "interupts" the Network protocol for the link.
The workaround is to use "compress".

Hi managers,
We did encounter a transmission problem on sending (by rcp & ftp) gzipped files between an alphaserver (Tru64 v5.1b pk3) and other hosts (Tru64 server or NT server).
Error message "rcp: lost connection" was prompted when we use rcp, while "Connection reset by peer" was received, and both commands result in transmission terminated.
Problem not happens on all gzipped files but frequency is significant. No problem for other small(several KB) and large files(over 10MB).
Would appreciate if any one can give me some hints.
Regards,
KYLAM
