Hi all

I am trying to install 5.1a on a es45 with a smart array 5300 raid controller
and when I try to boot up off the cd to begin the installation it doesn't
seem to recognize the card in the generic kernel that is contained upon the
instation CD. Also I note that in the documentation for the smart array
controller that it says that 5.1a is supported. Is this a chicken or egg
problem?? Where by you need a patch kit to provide support but first you need
to get the os installed first. Or should I just go and install 5.1b which
would have support for this card on the generic kernel that is contained on
the CD.

Thanks in advance

-greg

Notes the following srm variables have been set as per the instructions.

the heap_expand variable has been set at 2MB

The boot bios variable has been set to pya which is the smart array controller
