Well it seems there is no ISO download from the web. A few people pointed me
to the individual downloads (
http://ftp.digital.com/pub/Digital/Alpha/firmware/ ), but I was already
aware of them.
In the end I had an offer from Lawrie Smith to send me a copy, thanks
Lawrie.
Below are a few of the informative responses I received. I may try to create
a CD from the info given by John Lanier.
Thanks to all,
Alan

In case you haven't seen this already, here is a "Best Practices" document
on
creating your own firmware CD:

We get our firmware update CDs from HP support, as we have software as well
as hardware maintenance on our Alphas.

A copy of the current Alpha firmware CD is included in the base OS
media kit. If you get a V5.1B-1 media kit, it will have the latest
firmware CD inside the box.
