default tty settings

Managers,

I am having trouble setting the baud rate on tty ports on an ES40
running Tru64 5.1b:

        # stty -f /dev/tty01 19200
        # stty -a -f /dev/tty01 speed
        speed 9600 baud;

Is there a way to change the default settings on a tty port?
