Admins,
I have a file which was produced from a vdump on a T64V5.1 system and saved onto a remote file system which appears to be corrupted in some way. When trying to vrestore the files (vrestore -f /remotedir/dump.bak ) the process starts but fairly quickly reports block errors and exits. Using the -t flag lists a few of the files then gives the same results. Using a -i shows the directory structures no problem so I guess the header part of the archive is probably ok. Trying to extract any files after the initial corrupted blocks however fails as vrestore seems to sequentially scan through the archive and dies when it hits the bad blocks.
As the archive may still have some valuable uncorrupted files worth pulling out; my question is does anyone know of any utility or alternate way of pulling out the good files or telling vrestore to ignore bad block errors etc. Is the archive format of vdump files published anywhere so I could maybe even patch-up the bad blocks ?
Thx in advance,
Adrian
