(Summary) What happened to the Alpha Firmware ftp site?

Thankyou to the dozen people who responded. It seems that ftp.digital.com
works for about half the respondants and it doesn't work for the other half
who in some case have given up and started making the connections at home.

Three people however are more clever than me.

John Lanier, Andy Wagg, and Eric Sisson had the very clever solution, instead
of using:

        ftp://ftp.digital.com/pub/DEC/Alpha/firmware/index.html

try this:

        http://ftp.digital.com/pub/DEC/Alpha/firmware/index.html.

Aw shucks!!!! This works for me and I will go spend some time in the firewall
logs trying to figure out why.

http://ftp... Hmmmph. This is right in there the the time that HP had the
MX record for hp.com pointing at 127.0.0.1....
