Any way to use on-board Adaptec SCSI on DS20E?

Hi Admins,

I manage an AlphaServer DS20E (early 2001 vintage), running
Tru64 UNIX v4.0g, with all patch kits installed.

This system has two Adaptec AIC-7895 SCSI controllers on the
motherboard. When I first got the system, I remember reading
something to the effect that these controllers were not
supported for anything. Then later, I saw a note in the
4.0g release notes implying that they could be used, but
perhaps not for tape drives.

As I have maxed out controller boards on my PCI bus, it would
really be useful to me if I could use these Adaptec SCSI
controllers, particularly if I could attach my Compaq DLT8000
backup tape drive to one of them.

Anybody know anything about these, or a reference I can study?
If anyone has used them, do you know the part number on the
cable and connector needed to connect the plug on the
motherboard to a knock-out on the back of the pedestal box?
