Hello,
I am attemting to convert two Tru64 Unix v5.1A to be NIS clients account
for logins. The master and slave servers are two Red Hat 7.3 Linux
boxes. I used nissetup to configure them and have modified
/etc/svc.conf for the auth, passwd, and group entries to incude yp for
searching. Running ypcat passwd outputs the passwd file from the master
but I cannot seem to login using the password configured on the NIS
master. When I login to the Tru64 Unix boxes, I am using the default
shell that is configured in NIS and my home directory has changed to
reside on the NFS server (also an NIS master passwd file setting) but I
have to use the non-NIS (i.e. the local) password to login to the Tru64
Unix boxes.
I am running enhanced security for account management with BigCrypt, but
switching to basic security didn't help either. Any ideas? Do I need
to use a different security level/encryption?
Regards,
Bill Antoniadis
