Thanks to Juan Ramon Espana Burbano, Ann Majeske, James Sainsbury, Bugs
(bb1_at_humbolt.edu), Chris Wincentses, and Lawrie Smith for their responses.
Turns out what we ended up doing copying the source servers boot disk and
booting the new server off of it. There are more steps to this process but
this is the high level rundown.
Thanks again,
Chris
Admins,
I am needing to move about 3,000 user accounts from one system to another.
We are NOT running NIS and we ARE running enhanced security. I had the idea
of putting a new passwd file into place and rebuilding the passwd file via
the mkpasswd command. Will this work or is there an easier/better way to
perform this task?
Thanks,
Chris Bryant
