Changing tape device

Hi,

A client has 2 Alpha servers running (wait for it...) 4.0D and they share a
tape drive between the 2 servers. One of the servers is a test server and
the other a live server. When they want to use the tape drive on the test
server, they shut it down, connect the tape drive and restart the server.

Everything works fine, except the device name changes after each
reconnection. eg. it goes from /dev/nrmt4h to /dev/nrmt5h etc.

Is there a way to stop this from occuring (ie. get it to use the same
device)?

Also, is there a way that we can determine the name of the new device, via
script?

Any other suggestions for supporting this type of arrangement (apart from
buying another tape drive, which I have already tried)?

Thanks,
Mark
