Breaking a mirror set and adding to stripe set

We're running a two node ES40 cluster with dual HSG80 storage controllers,
using Tru645.1B PK 3 using advfs. Our DBA's (ever trying to plague me with
requests for more disk space) are now wanting me to make changes in the
storage. A couple of questions:

1) If I break a two disk mirror set to get 2 JBODs, is the data retained on
one or both disks or do I have to break the mirror, create the JBODs, and
then restore the data to a single drive?
2) We currently have stripe set consisting of 3 disks, they are requesting
the addition of one more disk. Same sort of question, do I have to delete
and recreate the stripe set or is there a way to simply add a disk (or more)
to it?

Thanks in advance.
