[SUMMARY]: apache 1.3.9 on TRU64 5.1A restore

Hello again,
Thanks to Charlie Ballowe for getting me to take another look.

Even though this was a restore and the mime.types file looked correct,
after Charlie's email, I decided to check again.

I set the DefaultType in the httpd.conf and my pages displayed on all
browsers.
DefaultType text/html

Thanks again....
Jane

if i had to guess, I'd say that apache isn't sending the right mime
type
for that document. If it's being sent as text/plain instead of
text/html,
any browser that actually honors mime types properly will just display
it
as text. Why it's not passing the right mime type is a different
question,
but that is my guess.

Hello manager,
I am not sure if this is beyond the scope of this listserv but I will
ask anyway.

Due to a hardware failure I needed to rebuild my DS20 webserver (which
is a webserver for access to a library catalogue on a separate server)
onto an ES40. I re-installed the O/S TRU64 V5.1A (patched up to
date....it was previously unpatches) and then restored the backup tape.
This would have restored apache version 1.3.9 and all the
configurations set by our third party vendor.

My problem is that through Netscape, Opera, and other browsers (not IE)
the redirection of http-equiv does not work. The text is displayed
rather then the page.

If I type the URL on the browser I can get to the specified page. My
question is do I need to do some reconfiguring of apache because I
restored the files. I thought just restoring the specified directories
would be sufficient.
I was hoping I would not have to reconfigure because this is a 24/7
webserver.

If anyone can assist...I thank you. If this is beyond the scope of the
listserv...I apoligize.
