add disk failure

Hello Admin Wizards,

after trying to add a DS-RZ1FC-VW Disk in my SW300 storage shelf (HSZ40
- DEC Alpha Server 1000/366, True64 4.0g) i got the following message:

The disk driveĀ“s amber LED blinks.
Does that mean the disk is useless for this environment?
