We are having slowness problem with our application running on HP Alpha
GS1280 with 6 CPU & 32GB RAM.
All was working well for quite long time but recently we started feeling slow
performance.
So we escalated matter to our Application vendor & below is there analysis,
"You have 2 10/100 fast Ethernet - that is not connected.
bcm0 is your Gigabit adapter and this is being used for your ORACLE
connections.
Fiber Channel (Emulex Lightpulse) - to your storage
You should therefore check the following:
1. Check with your OS vendor if you should reconfigure your TCP/IP
parameters on the Gigabit Ethernet as typically the default is
25% of throughput is lost to overheads.
I may need to check the relevant documentation for altering your
TCP/IP window and MTU values to improve the performance a little.
Typically Gigabit Ethernet has a slow latency until the throughput
Improves - it's optimized for larger packet sizes."
Please advice which parameters I check & change??
