Thanks to all who replied so quickly!!!! I checked the setting via the below method and it was set to 1 which is interesting as the sys_check report says that I need to change it from 0 > 1!?!?!?

Andy
The best response came from Whitney Latta as follows:-
As of V5.1B-3, new_wire_method is no longer configurable, and is
hardcoded enabled (1). You cannot check it with sysconfig (it will
return "unknown attribute"), but you can check it by using dbx:
As root, type "dbx -k /vmunix"
At the dbx> prompt, type "p new_wire_method"
root > dbx -k /vmunix
dbx version 5.1
Type 'help' for help.

warning: Files compiled -g3: parameter values probably wrong
(dbx) p new_wire_method

(dbx) quit

The ability to configure new_wire_method has een removed to eliminate
any lingering confusion regarding its use... Oracle and HP Tru64 unix
engineering has fully tested this and verifies it works as intended;
hence it is always enabled.
I hope this is helpful.

Hi Guys,
I'm sure this is going to be a VERY stupid question but have just setup a Tru64 v5.1b-3 server and restore an Oracle 9.2.0.7 DB onto it's filesystem. I need to change the vm: new_wire_method from 0 to 1 but er can't seem to find it !?!?!!?
Has it moved to somewhere else?
Regards
Andy
