Thanks to Eric Werme USG <werme_at_zk3.dec.com>,
who pointed out:
if using "csh" (as I do for root)

the link-command must be:

 # ln -s './{implver}/libm.so' libm.so

instead of

 # ln -s ./{implver}/libm.so libm.so

So I did and it worked,
